I snagged this romper (also comes in black) over the weekend from Bevello to wear to an engagement party for some friends of ours. It's been hot and humid over the last few weeks, and the party was outdoors at the beach, so I wanted something loose and airy so I would feel both comfortable and chic. I opted for these lace up sandals for the party but couldn't resist getting these booties for fall. I love how great of a transition piece they are. I love them with this romper but will be wearing them all the time with cropped pants once the weather cools off.
Hello, weekend (almost)! Today, I'm sharing the last of the photos that we took in the Bahamas. That vacation still feels like a dream and I wish I could go back. I could cetainly go for drinking coffee on the bow of the boat admist the clear blue water and no noise aside from birds and waves!
What a whirlwind weekend it has been! I was originally supposed to go to Charleston for The Blog Societies conference, but I didn't realize we had also been invited to a friend's wedding in Asheville. I probably could've made both happen but it would've been almost a thousand miles of driving over four days, so I knew I needed to choose and opted for the wedding instead. On Saturday morning, however, I woke up to a very sick little puppy. Though my mom ended up going with me to the vet anyway, I knew I couldn't leave with her being so sick. Thankfully, they think it's just something she ate (we've cut off all people food so who knows what it was!), so they hooked her up to receive fluids as she was very dehydrated and they gave her some medicine and so far, so good. Prayers that she'll stay well!
This dress has been a style experiment for me. When I saw it online, the material appeared to look dressier, and I purchased it for an outdoor garden wedding. When I took it out of the box, it was not as impressing, but I still loved the open back detail and flowy shape, perfect for a hot summer wedding. I styled it with heels, dressy jewelry, and bright lips and when I walked out the door, I liked the combo. In photos from the wedding, however, I was unimpressed with the ensemble, and I wished I had chosen something differently.
Happy Monday! It's hard to believe this week is here - I have a big work event coming up on Thursday and Friday, and it seems like I should still have a month away to prepare. I know I'll be all over the place this week, but I'm really looking forward to it - and just hope that everything goes well!

Do you ever have that one dress (or outfit) that makes you feel like a million bucks? This dress is that one for me. I knew we had several weddings to go to this summer, so back in the early spring, I was perusing the Revolve website when I came across this number. I immediately gravitated towards the cut and color, but I can be an indecisive person, so I held off on buying it. I just knew I would find something I liked better, but a few weeks came and went and I was still thinking about this dress. Finally, I decided to take the plunge and purchase it, and I can assure you that it was a good purchase.
What a weekend! Or really...what a week. The last 7 days have flown by and it's safe to say I am tired. Nothing like kicking off a Monday already feeling exhausted, but it was certainly all worth it. I showed property on Saturday morning, so I came into the office for a few hours before my mom met me and we made our way back to Raleigh for the Miss North Carolina finals. A huge congratulations to Catherine White, Miss North Carolina's Outstanding Teen, and to McKenzie Faggart, Miss North Carolina. I first met McKenzie when she was competing in the teen division my first year competing at Miss NC. And I had the privilege of meeting Catherine last year when I assisted in mock interviews for her pageant prep. My mom and I had such a great time together and I'm always sad to see Miss NC week come and go.
Sunday was spent in the sun, which is my favorite thing to do on a weekend. I should've spent more time resting and being productive, but I couldn't resist a trip on the boat. Sophie loves going on the boat too, so she got to go along (You can follow Sophie the Maltipoo on Instagram here). The sun always drains me - but totally worth it!
One of the things my mom and I always do during Miss NC week is shopping - I'm not in love with the shopping in Wilmington - aside from a few of my favorite local boutiques of course - so it's always fun to pick up a few things while in Raleigh. I snagged this romper and am very glad I did. I don't love how it photographs, but in person, I found it to be flattering and comfortable. It's the perfect weekend romper. It's also on sale for less than $50 - so grab it sooner than later!

Happy Friday! It has absolutely been the craziest week - but it has been so worth it! We have had some changes at work that have resulted in a changing workload, but it's been exciting as well and I'm loving learning new things. And my mom and I spent Wednesday and Thursday nights at the Miss North Carolina preliminary competition. I had the opportunity to compete twice for the title of Miss North Carolina, and it's always so nice to be back in Raleigh, seeing an incredible class of girls compete and catching up with great friends.

Don't you love when you come across a good find unexpectedly? I'm always looking for great summer work dresses that are cool enough for the hot weather, travel well (I drive around 80 miles each day so pieces that get wrinkled easily are a no-go), and are still cute. Luckily, I don't have to get overly dressed up for work, so a shift dress and wedges are often my go-to.
It's safe to say that this matching two-piece number is a little outside of my comfort zone but I can't get enough of it. Fun fact: I was an extra in the movie Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood when I was about ten years old. There are some flash back scenes set in the 1950s, and for some reason, this outfit kept reminding me of being on the set. Of course, this number is a little shorter than what you would've probably seen in that era, but either way, I get a vintage vibe when I wear it.
What a great weekend! I didn't have too many concrete plans, and that's pretty nice for a weekend with a beautiful forecast. I started off Saturday with a morning Pure Barre session, a quick trip to Barnes and Noble - another book review coming soon - took my car to get serviced and inspected (no fun, but #adulting), and spent the rest of the day poolside with one of my best friends followed by a date night with Stephen. Sunday was another day full of sunshine - church, lunch with the family, and some planting outdoors (more #adulting, but Stephen helped a lot with getting some more plants in the ground outside my house). And of course - a couple more hours in the sun. Definitely hoping the "Sunday well-spent brings a week of content" mantra holds true.
How in the world is our tiny pup already 5? Even though so much has happened since I first got Sophie, it's still hard to believe she's already five years old. Soph has been a constant through many changes in my life: college, graduation, 4 different moves, 2 different jobs, laughter, tears, and with a whole lot of walks and treats in between.
