New Year's Eve 2012

2012 is almost to a close! I can't believe how quickly the year has gone. 2013 will be bringing a lot of changes for me, but I am excited about them!

For NYE, I am planning on going out with SW and some of our friends to ring in the new year. I'm really looking forward to it!

I put together this set, which is somewhat the basis for what I will be wearing for New Year's. Though I haven't decided if I'm going to wear a dress or not (I might opt for black jeans and a sparkly top!), this look is definitely something that would be great for NYE.

I really like the pop of pink that comes with the BCBG Max Azria clutch. The neon is a great addition to any outfit, and can definitely be accessorized with future outfits.

Happy New Year!

InStyle December

Santa delivered the January 2013 issue of InStyle in my stocking, and it has been a great read. It included great celebrity style from 2012 as well as 2013 fashion trends. I picked a couple of my favorite things from the issue (I could have created a huge list!).

Style by Design -- The Rancic Home

I am officially in love with Giuliana and Bill Rancic's new L.A. home! After just welcoming baby Duke, they now have a perfect family home. Interior designer Lonni Paul created the space to fit the Rancics needs, and in my opinion, it could fit most everyone's!

Busy Bee

It was my plan to do a post on Giuliana and Bill Rancic's new L.A. home! I saw it on E! today and fell in love, yet doing some research, could not find any photos to do it justice. though StyleNetwork.com has some photos, I think I'll wait a few days to see if I can find perfect photos that show the incredible interior.

In addition, I have had an incredibly busy day. I've been working out and running errands all morning and afternoon, and it is SW's birthday, so I'm about to hit the road to spend some time with him.

For this chilly and busy day, I chose a comfortable outfit that still makes me feel put together. I found a Michael Kors Double Zip Sweater in NYC that is just perfect. It is so cozy for a cold day but is very cute. No pictures today (I'm rushing all over the place), but tomorrow's post has great things in store!

Christmastime

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! I know that I sure did. I was lucky enough to have several days celebrating Christmas with various parts of my family, which was absolutely wonderful. I love being able to spend time with my loved ones all the time, but something about this season makes it seem very special.

Santa gave me quite a few goodies that I adore, but here are a few of my favorites!

One.

Two.

Three.

One. The Nook HD -- this was definitely a surprise! I had looked at this a few times but had honestly forgotten about it, but it will be great to get books on the go as well as check in with my latest editions of my favorite magazine.

Two. Talula Cashmere Sweater -- I love this sweater! This was on my Christmas wish list and it is oh so cozy.

Three. Michael Kors Continental Wallet -- I've been using a Hobo wallet for awhile now, so it's a great change! Definitely a Santa favorite.

Though I got some other great goodies, these were a few that stuck out

I'm incredibly thankful every day, but especially this Christmas. As my grandparents are aging, I remember how blessed I am that I get to spend time with them, and I'm hoping for many more.

Continue to enjoy this holiday season. In the blink of an eye, it will be 2013!

Keep a look out for some of my fashion faves from InStyle Magazine, New Year's Eve trends, and more!

Style of the Day: Christmas Eve

Merry Christmas Eve, everyone! I can't believe the day has come and gone and in just a few short hours, it will be Christmas! Where has the time gone?

I spent the day running last minute errands with SW (the bf), eating a late Christmas Eve lunch with some of my sweet family, and curling up in my cozy pjs for a Christmas movie.

It was a beautiful day, fairly warm to be the end of December, so I chose my outfit accordingly.

Black V-Neck: Unknown -- Caramel Cardigan: Annabella -- Black Skinny Jeans: Forever 21 (lucky find!) -- Monogram Necklace: Michael Kors -- Shoes: Libby Edelman

We ended the day with each of my siblings and I receiving one gift from our parents. I got this gorgeous cable bracelet! Doesn't quite match the MK, but I had to put it on, of course.

Merry Christmas, y'all. Jesus is the Reason for the Season.

A Touch of Vintage

One of my favorite accessories is a pair of Ray-Ban Aviator Sunglasses. From far away, they look like a pair that can be purchased from Ray-Ban's website, but these are pretty special (I think so anyway). My boyfriend's dad purchased them at a yard sale about a year ago, something unwanted. Yet these sunglasses are in near perfect condition. They are gold-frames, but uniquely, the frames are also leather bound. Though I am not sure of the year they date back to, I do know that they were made when Bausch & Lomb still owned Ray-Ban. The RBs are definitely unique, and I absolutely love wearing them. Luckily, the style doesn't quite resonate with the bf, and he's letting me "borrow."

Though I've looked at multiple styles to purchase a pair of my own, I just can't part with these until I absolutely have to.

Ray-Ban has a variety of Aviator styles to choose from -- definitely worth adding a pair to your collection.

The Gift of Giving

The countdown is on! With only 3 days left until Christmas, most people have probably already purchased their gifts, wrapped them, and have them settled under the tree or packed up to visit friends and family. But, since I love Christmas and buying gifts, I've put together a list of some of my favorite things, all of which would make the perfect gift for the girl in your life!

                       One.                                                                         Two.

                                                                      Three.

                       Four.                                                                          Five.

This Michael Kors Chain-Link Watch in Tortoise is the perfect arm accessory for any girl's wardrobe.
Two.
For the notebook obsessed, May Books personalized notebooks and pads are a great gift.
Three.
This Tory Burch Amanda Logo Clutch is versatile with the removal strap. Add some color with the turquoise or keep it simple with Tory's own version of tan.
Four.
For those chilly winter days, she can warm up in this Aritzia Cashmere sweater.
Five.
For the shoe obsessed, the Jessica Simpson Bansi t-strap heel is a great addition.

Winter Must-Have

Today is officially the first day of winter! Though the weather here in North Carolina is not always very winter-like (yesterday, it reached the high 60s), today's weather has definitely been winter appropriate and has been pretty cold -- in NC standards anyway.

I have fallen in love with the Frye Melissa Button boot. I have it in Cognac, but there are four other shades to choose from. It is the perfect boot to transition from fall to winter. I find that it is my shoe go-to on a cool day. I wore them in NYC where it was very cold; not only were they comfortable walking around all day, I got so many compliments! I definitely consider them one of my winter must-haves.

I'll Be Home for Christmas

Only 4 more days until Christmas! I really cannot believe it. Christmas might be my favorite time of year (rivaling summertime of course). During fall, I can't wait for the time between Thanksgiving and Christmas when I can listen to Christmas music 24/7, decorate the tree, go shopping and see all of the festively decorated stores, buy gifts for my loved ones, and wrap! Though I really am excited for Christmas day, a part of me is sad that the Christmas season has flown by so fast. The anticipation is part of what is so exciting to me.

I love being at home for Christmas. My mom always decorates our house so beautifully, and this year, I decided to do a little decorating of my own, and put up a tree in my room. Sticking with the color scheme of my room, I have pink and white lights and decorations -- girly overload, I know. I just can't resist myself.

Wrapping presents used to be a chore, but in recent years I've found that I really enjoy it. This year, my mom found some great pre-made bows that were the perfect addition to my gifts. Here are some of the presents under my own little tree.

Though my mom has several themed trees around our house, our largest one -- the centerpiece -- is a collection of ornaments that my parents have had since they were first married, things my brother, sister and I have made, all of that good stuff. Recently, we were having a conversation about themed trees and my dad said, "We have a theme for ours. It's family." That really sat with me. Our Christmas tree represents our family and how we have grown up, what we like and enjoy, and what we have created. Calling it a family tree is absolutely perfect.

There is probably going to be at least one more Christmas post between now and December 25 because I love it so much! Merry Christmas!

Coral - Not Just for the Beach

When I first started college, I was in the interior design program at my school. The art classes weren't for me, so I switched out of it (I wish I hadn't!) but I still have quite the passion for interior design and decorating. Pinterest has only encouraged my obsession. I am constantly perusing the home and decor sections for inspiration and can't wait until I begin decorating my own home.

In recent months, I have really found that I love coral -- by itself, combined with another color or neutral; it doesn't really matter. I came across this bedroom the other day and I absolutely love it. It would make the for the perfect guest room -- or even my own room. I love the cushioned headboard and the way the color stands out against the gray wall. I also like the stark contrast of the white bedding. I have found that I really like white bedding (even though it is hard to keep clean!).

deep grey and coral; so pretty.

Here is another great use of the color. The frames add a lot of color to the neutral wall, accented by both the bench and the light blue dresser. The two colors are an inviting and fun combination.

A Pop of Color

During my trip to New York City over Thanksgiving, we stopped in the Kate Spade store and I fell in love with these brightly colored small square studs. I have worn them quite a few times since I got them, and they add a great pop of color to any outfit!

These earrings are greatly priced, so they make a perfect last-minute gift! They come in several colors -- and several great neons that are a great way to liven up your winter wardrobe.

The Life Planner

As a senior in college, I live by my planner. Even in high school, I was constantly scanning through my precious book, filling in dates and events -- even if they were months ahead. For the past year, I have used Erin Condren's Life Planner -- and I highly doubt I will use anything else.

It is perfect for the avid organizer and planner like me. Definitely A Southern Mind fave.

The planner features columned days separated into "morning" - "day" - "night." It includes a variety of stickers to help you label your events, as well as a folder to "keep it together."

Erin Condren's website has plenty of other necessities for the notebook obsessed. From personalized pads and pens, to teacher's lesson planners, to Christmas cards, Erin Condren has much to offer!

A Proper Introduction

A little about me. I'm a Southern girl, born and raised. I am lucky enough to call coastal North Carolina my home. To me, it doesn't get more perfect than this.

I'm a senior in college with future plans looming in the distance. In a dream world, I would work for a magazine with people who love writing as much as I do.

I love books, a select few tv shows -- Hart of Dixie being my most recent addiction -- and traveling. I love the feel of an old European town, the glamorous bustle of New York City, but the South will always be my home.

I have a wonderful family, all who were raised here in North Carolina. I have the sweetest boyfriend who reminds me to stay grounded, motivated, and to have a little bit of fun. Wonderful, fashion-forward friends who keep life exciting. And the cutest puppy in the entire world, Sophie.

And I started this blog because I love to write. Because I love fashion, design, weddings -- anything that you can put your own taste into. And because I love Southern charm. It doesn't get much better than that.
