Even though we've still got a solid 2-3 months of consistenly hot weather here in North Carolina, this time of year is when I start thinking about how I can utilize the pieces I'm buying year-round. I try to practice this pretty regularly anyway, but being a smart shopper at this point in the summer season can get you set up for the rest of the year.

I snagged this button camisole back in early spring and can't tell you the number of times I've worn it already. I originally purchased it in white, but when I saw it was on sale, I snagged one in black and also ordered both colors for my mom, who has been wanting it since she first saw mine.

The hem is actually pretty long, which I like because it makes it a versatile top. It looks more like a tunic if untucked but it pairs nicely tucked into denim shorts, which is pretty much how I've been wearing it all summer.

Also, you may remember my shoe saga where my favorite shoes ever broke. I'm taking them to a cobbler to get them repaired but needed a good every-day sandal in the meantime. I found these Jack Rogers and to be completely honest, was a little hesitant to purchase. I lived in Jack Rogers in high school (really though - all the colors) and they were always a little uncomfortable for all-day wear. If I'm at the store, I need a pair of shoes that I can count on as I'm on my feet most of the day, so I was pleasantly surprised when I decided to snag these and they gave me no problems!

Give me all the summer stripes! I hope everyone has had a great week so far. As we head into the weekend, mine is getting busier! We're having a fun event at ZIA on Friday evening + it's a Saturday in the shop for me. It's also supposed to be a beautiful weekend here so I'm hoping to snag a few hours in the sunshine as well. How about you?!

I'm loving this cute little striped dress. Sail to Sable is one of my favorite brands that we carry at ZIA, and when this little dress came in, I knew I had to share. It is so easy and comfortable and would make for a perfect summer date night look. It would even be cute paired with wedges or heels!

Cheers to a productive week and a laid-back weekend!

Sorry I've been a little MIA the last few days! I was out of town in Atlanta last week for apparel market so I decided to take a break from posting for a few days to stay focused on that. Then on Sunday evening, I was in a car accident (thankfully, every one was okay - just not the cars), so I am just now finally getting back to my favorite little space! I've received a lot of kind messages about the accident so I appreciate that!

But back to these cute shorts! Anyone else in love with scallops? There are so many cute things out there with a little scallop detail that make a look so cute! We got these shorts into the store and I fell in love with them right away. I actually love wearing shorts but love having a tailored option in my closet so I felt like they were a perfect fit.

I also am living in these heels! When mom and I were in New York back in February for Coterie, Lord & Taylor was having a huge sale. They had these in my size but only had one out. And no one could seem to find the match. I normally get super impatient in that kind of environment (chaos everywhere) but I slipped the heel on and it was so comfortable that I knew I had to have these shoes. We waited for what felt like forever but finally someone was able to find the mysteriously lost shoe (I kind of felt like Cinderella once I got the match). I have sadly not been able to find them anywhere online, but these are pretty similar and by the same brand.

Happy Monday! I'm drinking all the coffee this morning as I gear up for a busy week! Apart from the normal day-to-day at the store, my mom and I are headed to Atlanta later in the week. These first few days, I'm also participating in something we call "family retreat," which is where my extended family gets together for fun activities, dinners, meetings and togetherness. Tonight, we had a murder mystery dinner which was so fun! My team overthought it so much but we had the best time trying to solve the case.

We carry a great line of swimsuits in the store and this cover-up is part of the newest delivery! I absolutely love how easy it is. The coastal stripes are perfect for the beach and I love anything that has a bit of fringe! I'm also sharing a few more adorable cover-ups, so keep reading to check them out!

Cheers to a great day and a great rest of the week! Enjoy!

Few things beat a classic black maxi for summertime! I love that this one can so easily be dressed up or down! I wore it to my sister's graduation last weekend and received so many compliments on it and even had a few people ask me about it when we were shooting these photos! This one is from ZIA but there are so many great options out there!

I love that with a simple dress, you can add in some fun colors and texture. I've had these beaded necklace for quite sometime, and what's great about a strand of seed beads is that you can twist them into a knot for a little bit of a different look! I paired them with these block heels that are so incredibly comfortable.

P.S. If you ever shop at ZIA, be sure to use the code SS15 for 15% off your purchase!

True story: this is the first one-piece I've owned in years! I've had a hard time finding suits that I like on me! I also am weird about tan lines so I love a good strapless bikini. But now as the one-piece is making a comeback and there are so many cute options, I am loving giving the trend a try!

I snagged this one at Target over the weekend and can easily see it being a fun one to add to my go-to rotation! I love that it still has a little bit of the cutout detail that mirrors a cute bikini and the embroidery detail is really flattering in person. I will say that I don't love a suit that I can't remove the straps on or at least slip off (those tan lines...) but this is still a fun one!

As of right now, we don't have any vacations planned (although we are headed to the Outer Banks for a week in September for my girlfriend's wedding), but I'm hoping we're going to escape for a long weekend sometime soon! Despite that, I do live at the beach, so in all honesty, every weekend seems like a vacation! I have been doing a major closet clean out and the last thing I need to do is shop - however, there are so many cute things that I would love to snag for beach weather!

I don't normally do neons, especially with this much fabric, but when I saw this cover-up, I couldn't resist making the purchase! Despite the fact that the entire front is open (and the crazy color), something about it reminds me of a Grecian dress Diane Kruger might have worn in Troy or even a 14th century layering piece a la Queen Guinevere in Camelot. Anyone else? But back to vacation pieces - shop some of my favorites below!

Happy Friday! Even though the weather has been unseasonably cool the last couple of days, summertime is just about here, which means it's time for a few warm weather essentials. Pool floats, sunscreen, cover-ups... the works! Some of my favorites are from last year, though I've found a few new things I'm loving for this season too.

Hello, weekend (almost)! Today, I'm sharing the last of the photos that we took in the Bahamas. That vacation still feels like a dream and I wish I could go back. I could cetainly go for drinking coffee on the bow of the boat admist the clear blue water and no noise aside from birds and waves!

I hope everyone had a great Father's Day weekend! Stephen and I had a date night Friday night and headed to one of our favorite downtown Wilmington spots - Beer Barrio. We had planned to listen to a few bands during the summer concert series but it started raining so we opted to head back home to Sophie-pup and watch a movie. Saturday was spent in the beautiful outdoors followed by the wedding for one of my former co-workers who is moving to Atlanta with her new husband. The weather couldn't have been more perfect! And we had a great Sunday with my dad and my grandparents - so thankful for those special men in my life!

Don't you love when you come across a good find unexpectedly? I'm always looking for great summer work dresses that are cool enough for the hot weather, travel well (I drive around 80 miles each day so pieces that get wrinkled easily are a no-go), and are still cute. Luckily, I don't have to get overly dressed up for work, so a shift dress and wedges are often my go-to.

Living at the beach and spending ample time outdoors during the warm weather months has certainly caused me to identify those summer beauty essentials that I can't live without. From hair care to skin care, check out my must-haves for summer.

We had some beautiful weather here in North Carolina this weekend, and now my spring fever is greater than ever before. I spent the weekend celebrating the upcoming wedding of some friends of ours, and we had the best time. I even got to spend some time on the beach in this bikini, though the wind was still a bit chilly at times. But on Sunday, I sat at the pool at my parents house, and thankfully, the wind was blocked in a way that kept the chill away, and it definitely felt like summer. Now, I'm ready for more weekends like these!

The summer season hasn't quite kicked off just yet, but with the heat index topping 100 degrees, it definitely feels like it! Summertime is my favorite season. There are things I love about each, but few things beat cookouts, late night dog walks, and days spent sitting in the sand. Today, I'm sharing some of my favorite tips, tricks, and inspiration I've found for summer.
