Babymoon to Amelia Island

In early March, Stephen and I booked a very last minute trip to the Ritz Carlton Amelia Island down in Florida. I had said this whole pregnancy that I wanted to take a last trip just the two of us but also wanted to make a safe choice in terms of when and where we went. We blocked time off of our calendars, hopped in the car and made the 8 hour trek to northern Florida.

When we first started to discuss where we wanted to go, I wanted to go somewhere warm. I also didn't want to fly but being 7 months pregnant, I also didn't want to spend 12 hours in the car. We landed on Amelia Island after some recommendations and it ended up being the perfect spot.

We left rainy 50 degree weather in North Carolina only to arrive not to a sunny and warm Florida but to rainy 50 degree weather just like at home. I will be honest and say that while the Ritz was beautiful when we arrived, I was a little worried we had driven all that way to have the exact same weather we had at home. That being said, we checked in, had a cocktail and mocktail in The Lobby Bar and then ventured into downtown Amelia Island for a casual dinner.
The next morning, the weather did not disappoint! It was a cool morning - perfect for an outdoor brunch - but warmed up to a perfect day to sit by the pool. The pool is heated and I absolutely loved sitting in the sun to read or drinking a mocktail in the pool with Stephen. We had lunch poolside and it was honestly such a perfect day. We still reminisce on how much we loved it.

For our second dinner, we went over to Bob's Steak & Chop House. We weren't entirely sure if we would love the restaurant because it had some really great reviews but also a few not so great, but both of us ended up loving our meals. We sat outside on the terrace under heaters before sitting beside one of the firepits for awhile.

Our second full day was a little cooler but ended up being the perfect day for our itinerary - spa and golf. I checked into the spa for a prenatal massage while Stephen explored via bike. We met back up for lunch by the pool before I accompanied him for a round of golf. While I don't play - something I would like to learn - it was fun to simply be together and take in the views!

It was a quick trip away but one that we will always treasure. It was so special to soak in a few last travels just the two of us - and Stephen even found a gorgeous shell that serves as a memento in the nursery of our treasured time together.
