Pumpkin Spice

candlesticks: Home Goods, mini pumpkins and gourds: Michaels

I've spent a little more time this year decorating for fall. Stephen and I often pick up a few pumpkins and carve them, but I've added little touches around my apartment to spice things up. Stephen is very artistic, so this year, I left him to do the pumpkin carving, while I just painted polka dots on my little pumpkin. We usually stick to classic pumpkin faces, but this year, I wanted to do something a little different. Stephen drew out the design on paper before putting it on the pumpkin, and then used both a knife and a drill to create this. I absolutely love how it turned out, and it's the perfect addition.

I also picked up those candlesticks from Home Goods over the weekend. I realized after I purchased the bag of mini gourds that none of the vases I own worked with them. I found a perfect glass container that makes a great accent piece on my coffee table in the living room, but also picked up the candlesticks. I gave the pumpkins a try on top, and though different, I like it. I also love that these Home Goods finds won't just be for Halloween and Thanksgiving -- I can switch out my decor to coordinate with my new pieces.
