Cozy

It's a short one today. I've been on the road for the past 3 weeks -- from Raleigh to Wilmington to every where in between, and I finally got back to the Queen City last night, only to hardly unpack, watch The Bachelor: Meet Juan Pablo, and oversleep this morning. Happy Monday...? Though it's still doable outside today, the cold weather is creeping in, and we're supposed to hit around 8 degrees. I'm so thankful our actual temperatures won't be in the negatives like some states, but the wind chill is supposed to be pretty frigid. So, to keep us all warm, I'm sharing Martha Stewart's Homemade Hot Chocolate recipe. Enjoy!

Heart of Gold and Luxury: Rich Hot Chocolate

  • 3 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 1/4 cups cocoa
  • 1 tablespoon table salt
  • Whole milk for serving

COOK'S NOTE

This mix will keep all winter if stored in an airtight container.

DIRECTIONS

  1. STEP 1

In a large bowl, combine sugar, cocoa, and salt, and whisk to combine well. Store the mixture in an airtight container.
  2. STEP 2

For individual servings, pour 1 cup whole milk into a microwave-safe mug, and microwave on high just until hot. Add 2 tablespoons of cocoa mix, and stir to dissolve. For a larger batch of cocoa, warm the milk in a saucepan set over medium-low heat, taking care not to let the milk boil; as it warms, stir in 2 tablespoons of mix for each cup of milk.

Stay cozy and warm!
P.S. Anyone else ready for The Bachelor?
