The Wedding: Getting Ready

One thing I loved about our wedding weekend is that my bridesmaids plus a few other close friends stayed with me in the suites at our reception venue the night before the wedding. Our venue is unique as it has three gorgeous sweets above the grand ballroom, and each suite has two bedrooms and two baths, a living area, and a kitchen, so there was plenty of room for my parents to have their own suite and then all the gals to have the rest.

It was so fun to wind down with my gals after our rehearsal dinner and to wake up and spend time with the people who are closest to me as I prepared to walk down the aisle! I wasn't too nervous on our wedding day but definitely had those "first waking up jitters," so having my girlfriends there as a distraction made the day so fun.

I wanted a cute and cozy to get ready in, so I opted for this robe and romper, both of which I've worn multiple times sense. I also gave the girls robes from Pretty Plum Sugar, and I'm kind of wishing I had gotten myself one, because I love them so much!

Though we all got ready together, I decided to just have my mom help me get into wedding dress. It was nice to have a couple of moments with just the two of us (and our photographer team) and it helped me calm down and just relax for a minute. Though my bridesmaids had all seen photos of my bridal portraits, it was still fun to walk out all dolled up and to see everyone in their gorgeous dresses!

The Details // For jewelry, I kept things pretty simple. I found a pair of drop earrings from Kendra Scott that I loved when I first started looking. I never found anything that I loved more than those so I fianlly ordered them and loved how they turned out.

My something blue and borrowed was a gorgeous aquamarine and diamond ring that was a gift from my grandmother to my mother. I've always loved that ring so it was the perfect piece to wear on my wedding day.

My something old is an old hankerchief that belonged to my best friend Emma's grandfather. She started a tradition as the first Meredith College bride in our friendship that we would each monogram with the next bride's name and wedding date. It's been passed through 4 brides so far this year and we look forward to passing it to our friend Cameron next September!

Stephen gave me a gorgeous second wedding band on the day of our wedding as a gift, and I opened that and read the sweet letter with my girlfriends. Though I had several "something news," I considered that one the best one, as it was a gift from my groom and I wore it with my engagement ring during the ceremony.

We purchased the wedding shoes the weekend after we got engaged. My family had a trip to New York City planned, so while there, my mom and I stopped by Saks to look at Louboutin selection, which was something I always wanted. I knew I wanted a classic pump that I could wear throughout my lifetime, so I opted for the Pigalle Plato. I will be the first to say that they are not incredibly comfortable (I wore them all through our rehearsal and rehearsal dinner) but I sure do love them!

I love looking back at these wedding photos as getting ready and seeing all of the "looks" come to reality was such a wonderful part of our day.
