Short Hair, Don't Care

Medium hair length with long layers.// somebody please give me this hair color
The time has come -- my hair needs a face lift. I've been growing it out for what seems like forever, with "good cuts" in between (aka cutting a good one or two inches off each time). I have longed for gorgeous flowy hair, but I've realized that the only way I'm going to achieve that is with hair extensions, and it's nice to give my hair a break from those and keep it all natural for a while. Don't worry, I know those extensions will be calling my name again soon.

I've taken the first step and made an appointment with my trusty friend and stylist, so this Saturday morning, my hair will be getting a makeover. I'm envisioning a shorter look that is still below the shoulders, but a change that is perfect for spring and summer. I want something that can be sleek and straight, but look great curled or wavy, too -- a look that is sometimes hard to achieve considering my hair is so naturally straight. Of course, Pinterest has been my go-to for finding inspiration.

Beautiful cut for when I'm brave enough!

Spring 2014 Hair: Easy, loose and flattering. Allison Williams' Long bob is collarbone grazing with choppy layers around the face.

I'm also playing with the idea of adding a little color variety to my hair. Right now, my color is 100% natural, and while I like it, I wouldn't mind playing with something new. I'm liking the "sombre" look as shown here on Jessica Biel.

  2. I have been thinking about this EXACT same thing! I have had longer hair for about 5 years now but I'm really feeling like I need a bit of a change. And my hair is also 100% natural but I've been thinking of adding some color.. which all terrifies me! If you do it, I'll do it :)

  4. So cute!! Can't wait to see how it looks. I made an appointment to do the same thing about a month ago, but the woman didn't cut enough off for me & my friends to notice a difference. Maybe next time! & speak up if you need to ;)

  9. “…give my hair a break from those and keep it all natural for a while.” – This is a good break for your hair. Hair extensions are nice, but it's also good to go all natural and keep it simple sometimes. It's a change in scenery. I also love the choices of inspiration you've gone for! What style did you go for?
