Kitchen Update

It's been a long time coming but we are slowly but surely making progress on our kitchen update! I've been wanting to paint our cabinets for years (pretty much since we moved in). Over the course of the three years we've lived in our home, we've gotten a new refrigerator, dishwasher, and our stove/oven range. Those updates have really changed the look of our kitchen since we first moved in but I can't wait to see everything fully completed! I'm going to share a full kitchen reveal once everything is finished, but in the meantime, here's a little bit of what we've been working on.

The long to-do list:
  • Paint cabinets & bar
  • Update hardware
  • Change lighting in kitchen
  • Install light above breakfast table
  • Backsplash
  • New faucet
What we have done so far:
  • Painted Cabinets & updated hardware
  • Lights installed next week
Our cabinets so far have been the biggest improvement! We have a lot of oak trim in our house and had birch cabinets in our kitchen. As much as I dreamed of a white kitchen for so long, I will say that I got nervous right before painting as the birch cabinets were really nice. But now that it's all done, it has brightened up our space so much.

I've had this light for our breakfast nook for months but just haven't had it installed! But it has worked out that we will get all of those adjustments done at one time (which I'm hoping will be in the next week!).  I initially loved this light to replace our flush mount but it was going to require some ceiling work so I found a true flush mount to replace the one we have, which I think is going to work out better in the long run anyway.

The next two projects I'd like to accomplish are adding in a new faucet (I think I'm going to order this one) and a backsplash. I think the faucet may come first which is totally fine as I am so ready for an update. While I would absolutely love to go ahead and work on a backsplash, that project will probably come at a later date.

I also want to change up some accessories in our kitchen as well. One of my best friend gifted me a gorgeous tea towel by Printed Hues with a watercolor print of Wrightsville Beach as well as a dough bowl candle. Both of those will be perfect in our updated kitchen! I also have a space of wall beside our cabinets that held a board of invites, announcements, etc. While I thought I loved it there, when we took it down for the painting to be done, I realized how cluttered it made the space feel, so that's finding a new home. Now I just need to find the perfect piece to go there!

I can't wait to share the final product of our kitchen update! Stay tuned!
