Engagement Reflections

I've been saying it for weeks, but wow! Time has truly flown by since August 28th, 2016 when Stephen and I got engaged. I remember when we were trying to set a date... August 5th was not our ideal date because it was almost a year away and it was in the heart of the summer. Now, almost a year later, I can truly say the time has flown by. Even though it may be 9 million degrees and it will probably storm, August 5th rolls off the tongue as the perfect wedding date.

One of the things that has overwhelmed me the most throughout our engagement is the love we have felt from so many of our family and friends. We have been showered with parties and gifts, but most importantly, with support and love, and that has meant so much to me in the last year. It has been so fun spending so much time with our family and friends as we celebrated getting married. It is also a humbling experience to be surrounded with such kind and generous people. We've had cards, gifts and messages from people who we may not have seen in years but still took the time to send us something to let us know they were thinking about us. We've had family and friends open up their homes to host beautiful parties. It's just been a really special season.

And that special season is specific to just Stephen & I as well. It is such a fun year being engaged to your best friend. Stephen and I had been together almost 6 years when he proposed, had gone from college to first jobs to cross-the-state moves (and back again) before finally settling in the same zip code, so we had experienced a good little chunk of life changes together considering we were both only 25. But this year of being engaged is just a very sweet and special one, one that I will treasure for forever.

I will say that wedding planning was fairly non-stressful until about a month ago. Then it hit me about the size of our wedding, all the little things left to do, and I went into panic mode. But now that our wedding weekend is here, I am just so excited. After last night when I was packing boxes furiously, I felt a sense of peace. I am just so excited to be marrying Stephen that despite the weather, despite the table numbers, despite the decorations... the day will be just perfect.

Any advice for my last few days as a bride? I would love to hear about your favorite part of your wedding day or some of the best advice you have ever received!
