26 Things for 26 Years

How in the world is it my 26th birthday? The last year has absolutely flown by and I honestly can't believe that another birthday has come again. Year 25 was my "golden year," as I turned 25 on the 25th and it was a golden one for sure! It brought career advancement, new adventures, gorgeous travel experiences, and a proposal from my best friend. I have a feeling 26 will be a good one too, considering I get married in this year along with a few other great plans we have coming our way!

I'll be celebrating tonight with my sweet family at one of my favorite restaurants and tomorrow, I head off to Nashville for my triple bachelorette party! Safe to say I'll be doing a lot of celebrating over these next few days. So here are a few random facts that you may or may not know about me!

1. I was born and raised in North Carolina and absolutely love it! I love traveling but I love calling coastal North Carolina home.

2. My happy place is by the water. There are few things I love more than sitting in my parents' backyard at dusk, when the waterway has calmed down and everything is so peaceful.

3. I am super weird about texture. Certain foods I won't eat solely because of the texture and fabrics, skin, etc. stress me out sometimes because of the texture they have.

4. I would eat some version of a Mexican meal at least 4 times a week if I could convince everyone else around me to do the same.

5. When I first started blogging, I was scared to tell anyone! Pretty sure my mom was the only one who read it for a long time!

6. I'm the oldest of three - I have a younger brother and sister.

7. My favorite food is mashed potatoes (add all the butter, cream cheese, sour cream - super healthy).

8. I always feel more accomplished at work when I'm wearing a cute outfit, but there are some days I just want to wear gym shorts and a t-shirt.

9. I have a newfound obsession with Chicago PD and Chigaco Fire. It's a little embarrassing how emotionally invested I have become with those shows and characters.

10. I 100% pretend I'm a pop star (or country music star, depending on the day) when I'm in the car or the shower.

11. I would love to visit Italy and Greece.

12. I used to never drink coffee unless it was a froo-froo drink from Starbucks, but now my morning  commute isn't complete without my Keurig coffee.

13. I can't imagine a world without music, and have certain playlists depending on whether I'm at work, at home, or on the road. I can be in a terrible mood and just a few minutes of music changes how I feel completely.

14. I love going to New York City. Something about the hustle and bustle makes me feel at home, despite my love for my Southern town.

15. When I started working after college, my grandmother got me a pair of Tory Burch wedges that I have worn into the ground. They are embarrassingly worn down (and have even been resoled), but I just can't get rid of them. The sentimental value is strong on those and they are also just so comfortable.

16. I text my mom 2600 times a day and call her at least 3 times. It probably drives her crazy, but thankfully she answers most of the time!

17. I'm a little scared of bike riding - I finally got a bike last spring after not having one for years. I'm a little on the clumsy side when it comes to anything athletic-ish and have broken my arm by falling off a bike, but I'm slowly warming back up to it. Though I will never be one of those moms that rides a bike with with the kid in the back - that spells disaster for me.

18. I love writing and am currently working on a book. I would love to see it published one day!

19. I pick on Stephen about how he can get so distracted by watching Facebook videos, but I'm the exact same way. Give me one cute puppy video and next thing you know, it's 30 minutes later!

20. My new cocktail of choice is soda water, tequila and lots of limes.

21. I love looking on pinterest at inspiring quotes. Sounds so cliche, but seriously - it can be a day-changer if you find something that is really inspiring.

22. My family and friends often tell me I could've been a lawyer - apparently I don't let go of my point until I've "won..." The verdict is still out on that one.

23. I can't stand being without a pair of sunglasses. If I'm traveling, that's the thing I double check most before leaving.

24. Stephen and I started dating our sophomore year of college and we've been together ever since.

25. I am getting ready to cross off a huge goal of mine that I can't wait to share!

26. I would eat cake for breakfast, lunch and dinner if I could. And maybe today I will!

26 pieces I'm loving:
