This weekend is an exciting one because it is our engagement party! My parents are hosting a party for us in downtown Wilmington with family and close friends, and I am very excited to celebrate with everyone!
In preparing for the party, I kept running into one problem: finding a white dress that's January appropriate. There are a ton of beautiful white dresses out there at the moment, but for some reason, I couldn't find one that I wanted to work. I wanted it to be fun but classic, white but not too summery, flattering and not frumpy, chic but under $250... the list goes on. The party is also at the Reel Cafe, which is a restaurant & bar with an upstairs event space. It's a cool spot but not overly dressy, so I wanted to find something that would work in a variety of settings (I will note that I will in fact be overdressed for our venue but I love the dress, so it's okay).
I ordered this dress and absolutely loved it, but for some reason, it didn't fit correctly across my shoulders, and though it was minimal, I would've been pulling on the dress all night. I also ordered this jumpsuit, but decided the cotton material was too summery. I am, however, keeping it for bachelorette party/honeymoon/life in general because I absolutely love it!
I can't wait to share the dress I ended up choosing. Funny story, I saw this dress when I first started shopping but refused to purchase it because I felt like it looked too much like a summer dress. After ordering what felt like a thousand things, I finally purchased it and not only was it at a good price point, I love how it looks on!
Below are a few more white dresses that I love for engagement season. I've pretty much reconciled with the fact that most white dresses in the winter are going to look more May than January, and that's okay, because as my friends mentioned, you're the bride and it's okay!

The back of this dress is just perfect! I wish it had fit better across the shoulders.
I adore this! Not a huge fan of the price but I would love to wear this to some sort of event during our engagement season.
How cute is this jumpsuit? Definitely kept it even though I won't be wearing it for this event.
This dress would've worked perfectly, but with the price point, I decided to wait.
Another splurge, but I love the back of this dress.
This dress was a contender - and it may end up in my closet before August 5th gets here!
