Work to Wedding

dress, similar shoes here and here, neverfull

Versatility - if I've said it once, I've said it a million times, but I love a good wardrobe staple that can be used for a variety of occasions. I went into J.Crew a couple of weeks ago looking for a new pair of denim shorts, and instead, I came out with this printed silk dress instead. It was more than half off, and I couldn't resist the pretty pattern. My original intent was to wear it for work, but when I got home and tried it on again, I realized how great it would be as an occasion dress as well.

I wore this exact outfit to work not long ago, and I felt chic and comfortable amidst the summer heat. I paired the dress with a pair of patent Tory Burch flats that I snagged at the beginning of the summer (I can't find the exact pair but I'm loving these). I kept my jewelry simple, opting for my favorite David Yurman bangles and simple earrings, plus my Neverfull which goes with me every single day.
To dress things up, I paired the shift dress with strappy nude sandals, bigger jewelry, a darker lip, and a fun clutch. Whether it's a wedding, a work function, or just a date night, switching up the accessories can make a big difference when styling the dress. I also love that if you have a long day at the office and need to go to a function right after, you can slip on a pair of heels with this dress for a completely different look.

This dress was part of J.Crew's summer collection, but I honestly think it's great for fall too. With the darker hues and floral print, it can easily transition into cooler weather - and how cute would it be with a blazer and boots?
