Ballet Skirt

Loft top, ASOS skirt (also in turquoise), Jessica Simpson heels, Burberry sunglasses, fringe crossbody

I spent much of my childhood in dance class. My mom is a dance teacher, so from the time I was born, I was in a dance studio. She still has my first pairs of ballet and tap shoes, which I hope my own daughter can one day wear. For 15 years, I danced (and in high school competitively), and there are so many times I wish I could go back and take it more seriously or be a more dedicated dancer. Dancing taught me so much about life - how to feel and interpret music, the importance of sticking to something you commit to, the necessity of perseverance to achieve something.

When I first saw this skirt, I fell in love. There's something about a pleated skirt that makes me feel so fun, flirty, and feminine. It also took me back to my many years of dance, particular to those in my early childhood when I needed a pretty little ballet skirt to complete my dance attire. All I need are these ballet flats to complete the ensemble. The color, the pleats and the fit all make for a perfect skirt that is great for work or play. It also comes in a gorgeous turquoise, which I'm debating purchasing. I love the bold color combined with the dainty pleats - and that color is perfect for spring and summer.
