Thankful

When I think about what I'm thankful for, I always come back to one word: home. To me, home isn't just a place. It's a feeling, a state of mind, something that makes me feel whole. Home represents my family, which is the most important thing in the world to me. It represents an area that I love so much. It represents a place that has given me a roof over my head for years. And it represents a table to go back to, where I can share a meal with all of my loved ones surrounding me. Even though I don't reside in this place 24/7, it will always call me back home.

This Thanksgiving, I'm thankful for...
... my family. Stephen. my friends. my home. my sweet pup. food on the table. good health. a warm place to rest my head each night. my job. this blog. I could continue on and on, but it all comes down to this: this week, and every week, I am thankful for the life I have been given, and I will work to appreciate every aspect of it, no matter when life seems tough.

Give thanks with a grateful heart. - 1 Thessalonians 5:18. Happy Thanksgiving, my friends.

My Favorite Things: Stocking Stuffers

Stocking stuffers are some of my favorite parts of Christmas gifting. A lot of times, stockings are filled with things you need but may get tired of buying for yourself. My parents always filled my socks with little things like socks, toothpaste, our favorite candies, and the like, but they also slipped some fun surprises in there as well, like a new book, a smaller-sized wish-list item, or a gift card to a favorite store. I think it's fun to slip a few larger in quality but smaller in size items in a stocking for your loved one -- instead of wrapping it -- as a little surprise.

I would love to find anyone of these little dainty items in my stocking -- makeup and girly things are my favorite finds, for sure. Fun socks are another favorite -- something practical and useful, but perfect to slip on Christmas morning. Old Navy and Forever 21 are perfect places to find fun little items to slip into a stocking. Nordstrom offers a few of my favorite makeup items -- like the Nars palette that was also on my Christmas list, so that's a great place to shop, too!

For the guy in your life -- whether it's a boyfriend, husband, dad, brother or friend -- any of these items are guy approved. New soap and shaving tools are always a hit, being that they are products that are needed, but why not slip in a gift card, a pair of headphones, or a set of golf balls -- something that your guy can use but also may want.

Houndstooth

top: Sugar Love Boutique c/o, skirt: Express (love this houndstooth), shoes: Steve Madden, clutch: Francesca's (old)

With the holidays right around the corner, I've been piecing together outfits for a fun holiday look. I'm in love with this top from Sugar Love Boutique. The double layers, the back detail, the bell sleeves, and the color make it a perfect and versatile top for the season. I paired it with a houndstooth mini I've had for years for a more dressy look -- I love when you come across something that's been hidden in your closet for forever. Hope you had a great weekend!

Inspired

I'm back home in Wilmington for a girls weekend my some of my best friends! I'm excited for a day of relaxation and gearing up for a fun-filled weekend. I did manage to leave my computer at home, complete with the photos intended for today's post and of course, this happened to be the one time I didn't schedule my posts the weekend before, so today, I'm sharing some of my inspiration instead.

walk it out
I'm still in love with leopard pumps, and I still don't have any. These are definitely on my Christmas list.

giving thanks
Looking for a recipe to whip up something tasty for Thanksgiving? My grandmother makes an incredible sweet potato casserole -- and this recipe looks pretty delicious as well.
sweet dreams

Although I'm slowly but surely getting all the finishing touches in my bedroom, I still love finding great decor inspiration. This room is absolutely beautiful -- I love the lamps, poof, and rug -- well, everything.

Capes are galore right now, and I need one! How gorgeous is this one on Damsel in Dior.

I started my wrapping this week, and though I opted for golds, reds, and greens, I am loving these beautiful packages!

Have the best weekend!

Younique

I love giving new beauty products a try, so I was thrilled to try Younique's Lucrative Lipgloss in these two colors. I have used Younique's mascara in the past, which is amazing, so I knew I would love the lipgloss as well. I did use a lip liner before applying a gloss, as that is what I do in my everyday makeup routine, but I loved the combination of the gloss paired with the light lip liner. I used the same color for both, and the results were equally great. I can't pick a favorite color as they are both so unique, but they are definitely used quite frequently. Follow along with Lauren, my Younique stylist, here and here.

Black + White

sweater: Fab Finds Boutique c/o, dress: Old Navy, necklace: Stella & Dot, sunglasses: Ray-Ban, shoes: DSW (similar)

I'm not baring any legs this week due to the chilly temperatures, but on Sunday, it warmed up enough that this look was comfortable. I paired my gorgeous Fab Finds Boutique wrap sweater with one of my go-to black dresses and a new Stella & Dot necklace for a classic and simple look. To say I'm in love with FFB would be an understatement, and I'm loving the versatility of this sweater. I was originally planning to pair it with jeans, but realized how perfect it would be with a black dress -- and that saves a more casual look for later.

My Favorite Things: Grown-Up Christmas Wish List

Christmas wish list
I am so excited for the first week of the My Favorite Things series! The holiday season is in full swing -- Thanksgiving is next week, which is absolutely crazy! I've been slowly but surely crossing off my gift list for others, but I may have been keeping a wish list of my own. I really haven't asked for anything this Christmas aside for a couple of things, but my online shopping obsession made my grown-up Christmas wish list easy to create. Out of all of these things, the Tory Burch crossbody may be my favorite -- the color is perfect for everyday use, and I love the tassel detail that is so classic. I also love the Nars face and lip gift palette -- perfect for me or for a friend. If any one of these items was under the tree or in my stocking, I definitely would not be complaining! Cue the Christmas music.

Faux

top: Target, vest: Forever21 (similar), pants: H&M, boots: Frye, clutch: GiGi New York, sunglasses: Ray-Ban

Well, I chopped my hair -- and so far I'm loving it! It definitely was a strange feeling when I woke up and styled it the day after I cut it, but it's a good change and my hair needed it. This weekend was quite chilly, so I pulled out this vest I found last year and paired it with a new pair of pants from H&M for a day of errands with my mom and sister. I love a cozy vest, and though this one is a little on the wild side, I still love to pull it out of the closet every now and then. And these khaki green pants were the perfect find for fall -- I know I won't be able to get enough. Hope you had a great weekend!

Colder Weather

cold weather

Shop My Picks Here:

The temperatures are dropping this weekend, and to those of us who call 40 degrees cold, it's a big deal! Of course, as soon as the temperature drops, I find a million and one things I thing I need. I'm loving all of these cold weather accessories and would love to add any one of these things to my closet. I saw a similar faux fur snood at Target today, and I'm kicking myself for not getting it. Non-buyer's remorse, of course. Hope you have a great weekend!

All Wrapped Up

monogrammed cardigan: Swagger Boutique c/o, skirt: Target, shoes: Steve Madden (similar), necklace: DSW (in store), clutch: Francesca's (old)

I loved getting all wrapped up in my cardigan wrap from Swagger Boutique. I played this look off of my leopard flats, using a mixture of brown, black and gold to pull everything together. This sweater is so cozy, and I love the monogrammed detail. It was so popular at the open house this past weekend that over 100 were sold and are now sold out, but they will be back in stock! Be sure to check out Swagger for so many other great finds. And p.s. Who said you can't match black and brown? And another little tidbit -- today marks 4 years with Stephen -- 4 years that I could not be more thankful for!
