Tweed

dress: Liberty Sage, shoes: sold out (similar here), bag: H&M (similar), earrings: Forever 21 (love these), watch: Rolex, sunnies: Ray-Ban c/o Eye Care Associates

I've mentioned before that early fall is one of the hardest times to dress for in North Carolina. One day, it's low sixties and raining, and the next day it's 78 degrees and perfectly sunny. This Liberty Sage dress is the perfect fall piece that I know will be on repeat all through fall and into winter. Though it has elements of fall -- tweed and faux leather details -- it also has short sleeves, so it's perfect for those warmer fall days. Throw on tights, and it's transitional straight into winter. I'm also loving how this dress has hints of bronze woven throughout the tweed -- such a unique detail. I already have a few occasions where this dress will come in handy. Hope you all had a great weekend! Cheers to a great week!

Cravings

the shoes
I've been on the hunt for a pair of leopard pumps. I found the perfect ones yesterday, chunky gold heel and all, but they're unfortunately sold out of my size. Loving this version, too.

the closet
Can I please have a closet like this? It's the perfect place to put my leopard pumps. I just need a shoe wall. Is that too much to ask?

the gladiator
Scandal is back! Did anyone else watch? I'm a #Gladiator forever, and this season is off to a solid start. Now, I'll be patiently waiting for next week's episode. Who's kidding -- the entire season. Plus, Biana reminded me that The Limited is carrying the Scandal-inspired line that channels Olivia Pope's style. I could see myself in that coat, walking very quickly around DC before settling in my apartment with popcorn and a glass of wine. Oh, and the coat would work nicely in my closet (the one above), too.

the dish
I'm really trying to stay dedicated to keep a healthier diet, especially throughout the week. This means cooking dinner every night and packing my lunch for work instead of eating out. I came across this pesto chicken recipe, and it is a new favorite. It's so easy, pretty healthy, and delicious all at the same time. I used mozzarella instead of parmesan for the final result -- but any cheese will work.

the inspiration
It's time to chase your dreams! We often wait around for the right time to make a change, go after something we want, try something new. Time will pass no matter what, so set your goals high and go for what you want. No better time than the present!

Have a great weekend!

Wine Down

Wine
One of my favorite color trends for fall is wine. An array of dark purples and burgundys, this color is everywhere right now. When shopping this week, I saw so many great options, especially in shoes, and I am ready to put more of this beautiful color in my closet. I'm beyond in love with the dropwaist dress above -- don't be surprised if that winds up in my closet. See more of my wine-colored favorites!

Capital to Queen: Blazer

Today, I'm excited to introduce a new collaboration, Capital to Queen. Each month, I'll be teaming up with friend and Charlotte blogger Taylor-Rae, from Style Souffle, and we'll be sharing Capital City and Queen City style choices. We met a few years back at Miss North Carolina, and it's exciting to now be fellow bloggers! This month, we're showcasing our takes on the fall blazer.

I snagged this blazer from Zara when I was in New York back in August, and I've been anxiously waiting to wear it. Temperatures have actually cooled off this week, making it perfect blazer weather. I love how versatile it is; throw it on with a mini and heels for a dressy look or toss on jeans and wedges for something more low-key. How are you styling your fall blazers?

Be sure to head over to Style Souffle for Taylor-Rae's Capital to Queen post and follow along with her for great style and beauty inspiration!

Home Tour: Living Area

solid pillows: Home Goods / printed pillows: Etsy / lamps, mirrors, seahorse, garden stool: Home Goods / TV stand: Target / bar cart: Target / desk: Home Decorators

Settling into my new apartment this time around was much easier than the first. Though I bought some new things here and there, I already had the couches, tables, pillows, mirrors, and lamps, and I was content to keep them. Though I love the interior setup of this apartment even more than the last, I do really miss the adorable fireplace that I had. Because I didn't have a fireplace and didn't want to hang my TV on the wall, I found a stand at Target that went perfectly with the furniture that I already had. I also have a major obsession with Home Goods, so I furnished quite a bit of my living area with finds from there.

Game Day

top: Forever 21, shorts: Old Navy, necklace: c/o RocksBox, sunglasses: Ray Ban, bag: c/o Gregory Sylvia

Though warm weather is still here, fall definitely means this: football season. For girls, this doesn't just mean a jersey and jeans. In the South, football attire is definitely a fashion statement, complete with school colors, of course. Though I didn't attend NC State, I grew up in a Wolfpack-filled family and went to Meredith College, a mile from NCSU, and I met Stephen in Raleigh, who is attended all four years at NC State -- so I'm a State fan by nature. Once fall comes around, I'm constantly scouring stores and online boutiques for red attire, so if you see any have-to-haves, send them my way! Happy Fall!

Fall Finds

sweater / scarf / top / bootie / blazer

I've been trying. I really have. But sometimes, shopping just gets the best of me. I picked up the booties and blazer in NYC so I don't count that as too recent, but I've yet to wear them so I'm beyond excited to pull those out. September is still so hard. You see other people wearing jeans, vests, and scarves, but here in Carolina, the shorts and sandals are still everywhere. And is it just me, or does it not look a wee bit silly to see people wearing cable knit when it's still 80 degrees out?

I spotted the infmaous Zara scarf last year when in New York at Thanksgiving and failed to purchase it. So this year, when I saw they had this version available, I didn't wait. It came in yesterday and I am in love. I also snagged the camel cowl-neck sweater from Forever 21. Won't this be perfect with skinnies and boots or booties? I really felt like it looked so much more luxury than the Forever21 price tag that came with it. And then, of course, I spent way too much effort adding red into my fall wardrobe for the NC State football games, so when I saw this red peplum top, it immediately went in my hands.

There are still so many things that I have on my wishlist for fall. Something about this time of year just makes me want to buy everything in sight. But for now, I can't wait to put these to good use.

Tanned

Karora Cosmetics Tinted Self Tan Mist and Gradual Tan Cream c/o

I've worked with Karora Cosmetics before, so I jumped on the opportunity to work with them again. Being from the coast, I've always had tan skin. But as of late, I have had very few weekends to spend in the sun, and pretty soon, chilly weather will replace the warm days I spent by the water. I've also been working on taking care of my skin, which means no tanning beds. Karora Cosmetics is a great at-home alternative to keeping my skin tanned all year long.

The spray is similar to a spray-tan concept, but you can do it at home. I sprayed evenly, and then rubbed in for even coverage with my mitt. Though I liked the spray, I really liked the cream. It is soft and smooth like lotion, and it doesn't leave behind a sticky residue like a lot of self tanners do. This is a great product that you can build on too, so if the first batch doesn't leave you as dark as you want, you can keep applying until you've reached the desired darkness.

I have a fun weekend planned with friends, so I'll be using my Karora Cosmetics tanning products to get my skin glowing...and I'll be using them all fall and winter long.

Lazy Day

Forever 21 sweater (love this one), similar shorts

After a weekend filled with dress and heels -- and don't get me wrong, I love dresses and heels -- it felt nice to go with a casual look for Sunday afternoon. These were some oldies but goodies that I threw in my bag for the weekend, and they were perfect for a casual lunch on the water followed by a lazy afternoon. I paired this old blog sweater with one of my favorite necklaces from Bleuberry Toast, which I still can't get enough of. Aren't lazy days the best?
