Cheers to Fridays

It's Friday, once more, and I am more than ready for the weekend. Despite a quick week, it's certainly nice to see Friday again.

1//
I could have dedicated an entire post to this one, but why not share it on a Friday? I'm loving the Blogmopolitan Quiz hosted by Erin over at Two Thirds Hazel (she's also the host of Blogcation, which I've shared before, and it's the ultimate blogger vacation). Here's to sharing a little more about me!

2//
Scandal is back -- and as many of you know, I have a strong mild obsession with Kerry Washington. She may even be on my inspiration board in my office...oops. I'm even more obsessed with Scandal, and I could not be more ready for another set of exciting episodes. If you haven't watched it yet, run to Netflix now! (Warning: You may end up watching the entire season in one sitting.)

3//
Tomorrow morning, I'm going to check out the farmer's market. I've never been to one in the Charlotte area, so I'm excited to give it a try. I'm really hoping for some fresh flowers -- is that even an option at the farmer's market this time of year?

I've mentioned here before that I interned with Liz at Liz Carroll Interiors. Exciting for her, she was featured in this month's issue of Coastal Living! It is incredible seeing a familiar face featured on such a large platform, and I am honored to have worked with her. If you have any design needs, be sure to check her out or even get inspiration from following on Pinterest!

I'm obsessed with this gorgeous necklace from Bauble Bar. My friend gifted it to me for Christmas, and clearly she reads A Southern Style and knows my obsession. This is the absolute perfect piece for spring!

It's Friday, which means you should head over to the Friday Five!

Gold by Design

Blush Inspired

Though it's been awhile since I've done anything design related, I am obsessed with interiors and decorating. If I had an endless budget, I would constantly be redecorating my little abode. Though I really do love my girly little first home, I am inspired by blush tones and gold hues. I have the Threshold bar cart, and I am in love with it. I get the most compliments on it, and it definitely adds an element to my apartment that I was missing. I'm also really in love with the Cozamia herringbone print -- I'm definitely wanting it in one place or another.

When I saw this, I didn't realize it was $1,000, so that will not be in my home anytime soon, but it's a great piece.

This is another expensive piece, but this is a coffee table, as opposed to a vase.

This is a great piece to get if you want to update your space without too much commitment. It's easily movable and can easily fit in a nook or empty wall space. Warning: you will become obsessed with decorating this.

I am in love with this! Such a fun take on a living room staple.

Mood Board: Blush

A late February mood board. This year, I'm loving fresh flowers, blush tones, and cheery colors. Ready for evening walks on the beach, gorgeous cover-ups, and sun tans. More ready for spring now than ever.

Southernisms

obsessed

Growing up in Eastern North Carolina, I've often taken for granted what it means to be southern. Of course, there are so many interpretations of the matter, but I pride myself on being a North Carolinian and a Southerner. One thing that I really love is the idea of tradition, and how much that resonates here. I went to an all-girls college where tradition lies at the heart of it, and I so enjoyed living in the epitome of a Southern place. Winston Churchill wrote, "The most beautiful voice in the world is that of an educated Southern woman." I find that highly complimentary -- and love many things about living in the South.

"Southern women are extremely good at getting what they want." -- Virginia Williams

The higher the hair, the closer to Jesus.

Handwritten notes will never be old-fashioned.

Football games and tailgates are more or less a fashion show.

Someone's heart will always be blessed.

The South is home to great literature.

Living spaces are never confined to just the indoors.

Mason jars make perfectly good sweet tea glasses, or cocktail glasses, or flower vases, for that matter.

Speaking of Southern cocktails, it's hard to beat them. Whiskey Sour, anyone?

There's not much better than a large spread of Southern cooking.

Manners should be second-nature, and a yes ma'am and no sir certainly never hurt anyone.

There are festivals celebrating flowers -- the North Carolina Azalea Festival is my all time favorite. Cue the Azalea Belles (think Scarlett O'Hara), big hats, and mint juleps.

A monogram is appropriate for a woman of any age.

There will always be those Southernisms like "heavens to Betsy" or "Lord have mercy."

The weather was absolutely gorgeous this past weekend! It was so nice to have sunny days and temperatures in the 60s versus the crazy (but fun) snowy weather that we had a couple of weeks ago. I took advantage of it and spent a little time outside, plus celebrated my sweet grandmother's birthday. It was one of those weekends that you really hated to see end (or is that every weekend...?)

If you haven't checked out Armed and Readi, you definitely should head over to their shop now! They have so many great pieces.

Happy Monday, lovelies!

Oh Happy Friday

It's a happy Friday! After a quick week, I'm excited for a wonderful weekend! Hope you are too.

1// Birthday #1
It's this special lady's birthday tomorrow, and I'm excited to get to spend most of the weekend with her! My Nonny (grandmother) is a very important person in my life, and I can't wait to celebrate another birthday with her!

2// Birthday #2
My Nonny and my best friend share the same birthday! We don't get to celebrate together as she and her husband live in Oklahoma now, but I want to wish Sarah the happiest 23rd!

3// Shopaholic
As of late, I make the argument to myself that I'm going to save my dollars and do a little less shopping. And then the next day, I buy a Kate Spade wallet, a couple of nail polishes at Target, and a pair of shoe's at Nordstrom. Okay, maybe not all in one day, but I need to be better at splurging, whether it's big or small. Inspired my Mackenzie over at Design Darling, I'm going to withhold from shopping for a month -- an entire month. Of course, I'll still buy gifts, groceries, and the necessities, and I'll still have all my wanted lists that show up here, but I'm going to put myself to the task of only buying things that I truly need, considering that so many people in the world are wanting for things like good food and clean water. I'll let you know how it goes!

With all of the handwritten letters that I've been sending, I've been trying new ways of addressing them. I'm partial to this gorgeous letter.

Peach Blossoms

Remember that Kate Spade Surprise Sale? I do. Because I broke down and splurged. Although I argued with myself that when you find such a great sale as this, it isn't really splurging, right?

I'm absolutely in love with the Kate Spade Cobble Hill Lacey Wallet. I chose Peach Blossom for the color as I love pink and it's also the perfect shade for spring. And with these spring-like temperatures, I have more than spring fever (though I know the chill will be back.)

You can shop other colors in the Kate Spade Cobble Hill Lacey Wallet here.

Between spring fever, trying to get back in shape, and finding new recipes to try, Pinterest has become my new best friend -- now more than every. Here's what I'm inspired by these days.

I can't get enough of Pinterest these days, and these are some of my favorite finds of lately. You can follow along with me all the time here.

On a completely irrelevant note, an intense thunderstorm kept me up half the night, and I electrocuted myself this morning when I went to unplug my straightener and the top piece came off. Talk about a jolting start to a morning.

Something to leave you with:
In case you haven't heard, Erin of Two-Thirds Hazel is introducing the BLOGCATION -- a cruise to the Caribbean that doubles as a blogging conference. You should definitely check it out. Who wants to go!

Spring Fever

Summer

To say I have spring fever would be an understatement. This time last year, my friends and I had a spring break trip booked -- a cruise to the Caribbean nonetheless. We had the time of our lives, and it was easily one of my best memories from college -- I loved experiencing it with SW and my best friends.

I cannot wait for warm weather, beach days, afternoons on the boat, and nights spent outside without freezing. I'm loving this classic look -- white on white, perfect for early summer.

Here's to hoping, waiting, and wishing for warmer weather!

Snowy Days

The talk of North Carolina last week was of Winter Storm "Pax," and to say we got some snow would be an understatement. There were forecasts stating that my area could get anywhere from 4 inches to a foot, and I thought that even 4 inches was going to be quite the bit of snow (and the most probable amount).

By the time the storm had come and gone, we received around a foot, which was crazy! I left work around lunchtime on Wednesday, stopped to pick up some lunch, and in that short amount of time, the snow was starting to accumulate. Already, cars were starting to slide around a little bit, so I was glad to be safe and sound at home.

SW, Soph, and I ventured out into the snow for after it started to accumulate, and that evening, walked over to Fox and Hound, which stayed open despite the snow, for dinner and drinks -- the perks of being able to walk!

The next day was very similar -- and though it was nice to have a snow day, I wanted to eat about everything in sight (which included cinnamon rolls and cupcakes). Friday, it was back to work, and before the storm, I had decided to park on the street instead of up on the open-air parking deck, thinking that would be the best decision. Well, wrong. The streets were plowed, but that left lots of hardened snow around my car in addition to what had accumulated. Thank goodness for the two gentlemen who helped me dig my car out, but so much for looking cute for work...

I've loved this exciting snowy weather, but it's safe to say, I'll be happy for spring time, maxi dresses, and sandals.
