Trick or Treat!

Happy Halloween! This day has certainly crept up on me. I love Halloween, because for me, it signals the start of holiday festivities! My plans this year are certainly different than the past four, but I'm still looking forward to a fun Halloween night with my guy and my pup.

Halloween is the time when you trick or treat, so why not treat yourself with these treats that are good for anytime of year?

Late Night Musings

It's past 8:00 and I'm just getting to my blog - and I hate that! I absolutely love blogging and today I have felt uninspired. But everyone gets that way now and again.

Today was a hard day at work -- which made for me to want to be in total relaxation mode when I got home. It's easy to mope when your day isn't perfect, but here's a good reminder.

For tonight, I'm happy to curl up with my sweet puppy and watch Twilight (I know, I know) and Nashville.

Also - I'm so excited about my Etsy shop! If you would like to place an order, head on up to the shop tab and it will take you there! I have so many ideas - that's the problem! But if you have an idea and would like to place a custom order, please let me know - I'd love to get creative with you!

SHOPaSouthernStyle

I'm so excited to announce that A Southern Style now has an Etsy store: SHOPaSouthernStyle! I have always envisioned this blog evolving and progressing into a boutique, and for now, this is the first step! After brainstorming, putting my ideas together, and planning, I am excited for it all to debut! I have always loved crafting and jewelry making, and after taking the latest class, decided that I would love to practice my hobby a little more often!

At the moment, the store features wire-wrapped bangles, but I am looking forward to adding more pieces!

In the next couple of weeks, I will be adding more and more inventory and accepting custom orders so if you have gifts in mind, be sure to check out SHOPaSouthernStyle!

In the future, click on the SHOP tab here on the blog and you will be directed straight to my Etsy store! This is only the first step in this -- can't wait for what is to come!

Be sure to check the store at the end of the week -- so many more options will be available!

Hope you enjoy!

Thankful Decor

My, how fast October has flown! With Halloween only a few days away, the holiday season is certainly on my mind. This is one of my favorite times of year -- the span between Halloween and New Year's (cue the Christmas music). This year will be slightly different because 1) I'm no longer in college and won't have a month at home during the holidays and 2) I live 4 hours away from home and won't get to spend as much time there.

Though home is always my favorite place to be (of course), I'm going to make my own little home as cheerful as can be. I'm loving these fun Thanksgiving decorations that are perfect for November.

Style Details: Kimono

kimono: Nordstrom (similar here or here) // jeans: forever 21 // boots: Frye // bracelet: J. Crew //
necklace: Boston Proper (old) // clutch: Belk  (similar here or here)

So, I'm trying out the kimono this fall, and I have to say, I love it! It is perfect paired with jeans and boots for those fall days that don't quite need a sweater or jacket. I love the print on this one as well (a gift from a friend). They are chic and cozy, all in one -- definitely thinking I'll need more in my closet.

Style Inspired: Rachel Bilson

I'm a huge fan of Rachel Bilson -- I'd like to think we could be friends. Her style is generally effortless, something I really like. For those of you who watch Hart of Dixie, Dr. Zoe Hart's style is very similar to that of Rachel Bilson, making Bilson a perfect fit for that character.

I'm obsessed with emerald, and I love the mixture of printed pants with a bold colored top.

I really would be perfectly content with any of these pieces in my closet. Although each of these are bold pieces, they will mix and match well with staples that you already have. Purchasing these certainly would not limit you to just this one look (those pants would look fab with any color and who can really go wrong with a great pair of nude pumps?)

8 Things Every Happy Woman Should Have

happy girls are the prettiest

After reading the article "8 Things Every Happy Woman Should Have," Emily over at Cupcakes and Cashmere (one of my daily reads) posted her own list of 8 things every happy woman should have, which got me to thinking of mine. I think creating your own list on things that are so irrelevant but that make life very relevant keeps a woman centered. For example, do you really need a go-to karaoke song? Probably not. But I have great memories of my best friends and I singing Britney Spears at a karaoke night, which makes it so very relevant to my life.  So . . . here are my 8 things.

1 :: A go-to drink.

A glass of Moscato
2 :: A go-to karaoke song.
Britney Spears, anyone?
3 :: A uniform.
These days, a pair of skinny jeans, wedges or boots, a fun top, and a blazer
4 :: A hair stylist they love.
Robin Hansley at Strandz Salon
5 :: An exercise routine.
The treadmill and Pinterest workouts
6 :: A hobby.
Don't think I can choose just one . . . reading, online shopping, blogging, more shopping.
7 :: A best friend.
I'm so thankful that I can't narrow down just one best friend. I have my best friend from high school (Sarah), my best friends from college, and the lovely ladies of my family that top that list.
8 :: A healthy sense of self.
The person I want to be, the career I want to have, and the life I want to live are always works in progress, but I can thankfully take a look around at my life and confidently say that I'm a happy girl.

Going Green: Chair DIY

I ordered a desk a few weeks back but didn't want to get the accompanied desk chair. I was picturing something else -- something with fabric. My mom found this chair for $3 by accident; she just happened upon it -- crazy, huh? I thought it was a typo when she texted me a picture of it and that it was only $3. Over the weekend, we changed its appearance a little bit -- definitely more presentable in my opinion. It is actually a dining chair, but with a new coat of paint and some reupholstering, it's a perfect addition to my apartment.

Though a nice chair, it was not in the best condition.

I found this fun fabric from Joanne's -- perfect for my little work space. My mom recovered the while I painted.

We used Valspar Primer + Paint in an off-white. I used about 3 coats all together.

I absolutely love the fabric! It's such a fun print that will mesh nicely with what is already in my living room.

The final product!

Loved doing a quick and easy DIY with my sweet mom!

Friday's 5

It's Friday! Can't tell you how excited I am about this one. It seems like this week has been never ending, but this afternoon, I'm hitting the road to Wilmington for the weekend! So excited to go home.
Here's the 5!

1 //
Last night's blogger meetup with The Charlotte Social was so much fun! I'll have to admit -- I was a little nervous about going because I didn't know anyone, but I am so glad I decided to go! It was great connecting with the gals behind the blogs, and we talked blogging, life, love and everything in between!

The finished products.

Our fun group (minus a few!)

Can't say how glad I am to have met Melissa from Simply Sweet Melissa! She is the sweetest and I can't wait for our fun dinner date!

I've been linking up with the Friday 5 for the past month or so -- and it was so fun meeting April from A. Liz Adventures who is one of the hostesses of the link-up! Thanks for coordinating such a fun event!

2 //
I'm loving the new blog design! Can't tell you how long I've been wanting a stylized an update!

3 //
I get to spend the weekend looking at this gorgeous view -- home sweet home.
